Postpartum Doula Support | Frequently Asked Questions
When should I hire a postpartum doula?
Most families reach out during their second or third trimester to ensure availability. However, it is never "too late." If you have already brought your baby home and realize you need extra hands, feel free to reach out to see if I have immediate openings.
What is the difference between a Doula and a Baby Nurse?
While both provide exceptional care, a baby nurse (or newborn care specialist) focuses almost exclusively on the infant. As your Postpartum Doula, my focus is on the entire family unit. I support the baby, but I also prioritize your physical recovery, emotional well-being, and the household's overall transition.
Do you offer overnight support?
Yes! Overnight care is one of my most requested services. I arrive in the evening to handle soothing, diapering, and feeding (or bringing the baby to you to nurse) so that you can get the restorative sleep necessary for a healthy recovery.
How long do doula services typically last?
Every family is different. Some families only need support for the first two weeks, while others prefer a "slow transition" over three to four months. We can tailor a schedule that fits your specific needs and comfort level.
Can you help if I have other children at home?
Absolutely. Part of "mothering the mother" is helping manage the household flow. I can help engage older siblings, prepare snacks, and ensure the transition to "big brother" or "big sister" feels inclusive and calm.
